Daniel Sullivan, M.D.

Dr. Sullivan received his MD degree and MS (Biochemistry) from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, which was followed by residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Florida. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.
Joining the Moffitt Cancer Center in 1995, Dr. Sullivan is currently a Senior Member of the Moffitt Research Institute, Professor in the Department of Oncologic Sciences (USF), and a member of Moffitt’s Blood and Marrow Transplant Department. In addition, Dr. Sullivan serves as the Associate Center Director and Executive Vice President for Clinical Investigations at Moffitt, the leader of the Phase I Clinical Program, and chairs the Moffitt Conflict of Interest Committee. He has served on several NCI and ACS study sections and review panels, and previously served for years on Moffitt’s Scientific Review Committee and the USF IRB. He is the Principal Investigator of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) N01 Southeast Phase 2 trial contract and in this capacity serves on the NCI Investigational Drug Steering Committee.
Dr. Sullivan has significant experience in the writing and conduct of early phase clinical trials that have a translational research focus. His clinical interests are in novel approaches to treat multiple myeloma and sarcoma and his basic research activities are in defining the role of alterations in DNA topoisomerase I and II in drug resistance to inhibitors of these enzymes, more recently focusing on microenvironmental factors that modulate topoisomerase intracellular location in human myeloma cells.
